It feels risky to go it alone, but let’s face it- the real winners always run ahead.
I just read an interesting statistic from “Deloitte’s 2008 U.S. Top 20 Aerospace and Defense Company Performance Wrap-Up”. During 2007-2008, “operating earnings for A&D were down by 4.5 percent while sales revenue grew by 5.2 percent” .
After all, we are in the middle of a recession. If the “winners” are in that space, why should you be any different? Because you can be. You just need to make more informed decisions. As a starting point, you’ll need to know where you really stand in comparison to the rest of your industry before moving forward.
What might be pulling down operating revenues?
Time and resources related to manual processes?
Answers to these questions come from a great resource, The “Cincom 2009 Industry eBook series”. For instance, how do you and other companies in your industry manage mixed-mode manufacturing processes? The Cincom 2009 Aerospace & Defense Industry Survey e-Book reveals:
- Just 23% of A & D manufacturers are using demand-driven manufacturing tactics such as electronic Kanban, lean manufacturing techniques and shared business processes.
- But… 23% of A&D survey respondents said that their ERP system impairs their ability to react (when questioned about about the state of their current ERP system).
You can make informed decisions from the right resources, for good IT infrastructure decisions in a down economy.
