The Business Activity Monitor, one of six key upgrades for Cincom CONTROL: 2010 ERP, is the communication conduit that presents each role a status of how they are performing.  Similar to an automotive dashboard it focuses on the critical few pieces of information that determine success or failure. Unlike an automotive dashboard, the business dashboard provides a navigation tool tailored to the duties of a specific role.

Better Monitoring Reliability and Effectiveness

The objective is to provide leading indicators that monitor an organization’s reliability and effectiveness.  Eliyahu Goldratt, the originator of the Theory of Constraints, identified these as the two crucial non-financial business measurements.

Reliability is the measure of meeting commitments. These are measured by meeting customer delivery dates and internal order delivery  performance.

Effectiveness is the measure of operating expense management.  These typically include: scrap, inventory, overtime, expediting  and other controllable items under a roles control.
